New Zealand
[DECEMBER 30 - FEBRUARY 11]
WHERE WILL WE BE?
We will be flying into Auckland on the north island. From there, we are still planning which WWOOF farm we will stay at for 3 weeks and where we will be backpacking for 1 week.
What grows there?
New Zealand mainly grows kiwifruit, wine grapes, and apples. They also grow avocados and olives as well as wheat and barley. Pastoral farming of cows and sheep for dairy, wool, and meat takes up most of the land.
What is their climate like?
New Zealand's climate is temperate with subtropical summer weather and cooler winters that get down to 15°F on the north island. The south island has more moderate maritime weather near the coasts. The average yearly rainfall ranges from 2 inches in dry areas east of the mountains to 63 inches in the west coast of the south island. New Zealand has many biomes including temperate rainforest, mountain grasslands, and savannah.
