Hello Again
Hello Again!
It has been quite some time since we've gotten a chance to update you on our adventures! Since our last post about our wonderful time in Koh Tao, Thailand, we have walked through the botanic gardens of Melbourne, Australia; harvest loads of garlic on a permaculture & biodynamic farm in northern New Zealand; trekked on the Kepler Track through the fjords of southern New Zealand, fed goats on the Big Island of Hawaii, and so much more. We are now both back in Iowa City, well rested, and ready to continue sharing stories of our adventures. After adjusting back to sleeping in the same bed for more than a month, we are now back at editing photos and video from our trip and are excited to share more of our journey with you. You can expect to see weekly stories on here with lots of photos speckled through and even some videos here and there. Also, we will be posting updates on our new Facebook page: Regenerative Farming as well as our Instagram: @Regenerate_the_earth .
In the meantime, I wanted to reflect a bit on how this trip has changed my perspective on food. Last month, I planted my very first backyard garden that is my own! This was and is very important to me because over and over again I have learned how wonderful it feels to grow and harvest one's own fresh food. I am growing many different greens, carrots, beets, and herbs. Just a few days ago I harvested my first basket of lettuce! I highly recommend growing your own food, even if it's just a few herbs in a windowsill in your apartment. It is easy to upkeep watering every morning, saves you money on fresh food, and always feels great eating food you put the work in to grow.
I will go more into detail about a reflection on the trip in a future post! I'll check-in again next week with stories of our adventures traveling around Melbourne, Australia visiting their spectacular Botanical Gardens, the huge Queen Victoria Market, the National Gallery, and more.
Thanks for consuming!
